Question 1
Computer
literacy is a must for the present generation of students.  Write a composition of about 350-400 words
arguing for or against the statement.

You, as part of a school excursion, have recently visited a
place of historical importance. Write a letter to your aunt narrating your
experience of the tour. Include in your letter your feelings and emotions about
the place, what impressed you most about the place and also detail the benefit
you had from the tour.

Write a letter to the Circle Inspector of your locality
reporting a burglary in your neighbourhood.

Question 3
Read the
passage given below and answer the questions a, b, c, and d that follow:

The cloud
weaves a flaming girdle around the sun. (Sometimes a circle of light made by
clouds is seen round the sun.) Around the moon, the cloud weaves a girdle of
pearl – like stars. (The cloud hides some stars and allows others to shine. The
shining stars seem to make a ring of pears around the moon).

When the
cloud appears in the sky and rain falls, the volcanoes cool down. The stars
seem to move round and round, when the whirlwinds blow in circles. It appears
as if the whirlwinds are opening out the banner of the cloud, announcing its
arrival.

When the
cloud stretches and covers the sky over the entire stormy ocean from one coast
to the other, it looks like a bridge spanning the sea. The cloud covering
the sky looks like a roof, supported by the mountains which act like pillars.
Its roof is so thick that it does not allow the sunbeams to pass through it.

Here the
cloud is compared to a king victorious in a war. When a conqueror returns,
after his conquests, his city is decorated to receive him with arched gates
along the roads. The procession passes under these victory gates and the king
is accompanied by his commanders. To The king’s chariot are chained the
defeated kings and generals. In the same way, the victorious cloud passes under
the many – coloured arched rainbows. As the cloud passes under them, it is
accompanied by its comrades – storm, lightning and snow. The strong winds whom
the cloud has defeated seem to be the prisoners chained to the chariot of the
cloud. The delicate colours of the rainbow are woven by sunlight.
Meanwhile, the earth below, wet with rain, seems to laugh.

The cloud
is the child of the earth and water. Since it is formed up above in the sky, it
is the infant of the sky. The cloud is formed by the vapours that rise in to
the sky from oceans. The cloud may change its shape (like rain, snow,
hailstones) but it never perishes.
